Balaklava is a former city on the Crimean Peninsula and part of the city of Sevastopol. The balaclava, a tight knitted garment covering the whole head and neck with holes for the eyes and mouth, also takes its name from this settlement, where soldiers first wore them. Also numerous towns founded in English-speaking countries in later parts of the 19th Century were named "Balaklava".

A narrow meandering sea bay artfully hidden among the rocks.The Bay is considered one of the most picturesque in the Black sea. People began settling on the gulf coast 2.5 thousand years ago. Several nations wanted to live in this well-placed land so they constantly competed for the territory. Balaklava Bay was not only a good place to hide from enemies, but also to make successful raids from. Nowadays Balaklava Bay is a unique place where yachting is being developed.
